Montessori Academy of Colorado
Denver School

The Montessori Academy of Colorado is a metropolitan school that engages each child through innovative academics, exploration of character, and a fearless, forward mindset. We have been working with this progressive Montessori school for the last year, initially taking them through a two day visioning session where we established a decades long programmatic plan and recently working on a few interior updates that helped further establish the school’s mission through environmental graphics and custom decor.

We created a large graphic wall that boasts the school’s core values for the new lobby, and designed and fabricated two custom welcoming check-in desks that are counter height so that in the future they can be repurposed for a student run coffee shop. The desks are built from sustainable plywood that have a zero VOC emitting finish. The counter tops are built from avonite, a sustainable solid surface material that is beautiful, durable, versatile and an environmentally responsible product.

We also designed and fabricated custom office dividers with the intent that in the future they will be used for the student theater as backdrops and props for shows. They were also built from sustainable plywood that have a zero VOC emitting finish, along with a translucent plexiglass top to allow natural light to pass through them. We fabricated hand-held chalkboards and whiteboards that can easily be suspended in a variety of configurations on the interior of the dividers.
